VYOMMITRA -FEMALE ROBOT ON GAGANYAAN MISSION

 In Freshers Pakkam

India is going to send a female humanoid robot to space in the Gaganyaan mission. This female robot mimics all human activities. The word ‘Vyommitra’ is made up of two words of the Sanskrit language ‘Vyom’ and ‘Mitra’ which means space and friend . This is the prototype of the Half-Humanoid female robot developed by ISRO.

Gaganyaan’s primary objective is to showcase India’s power in human spaceflight. It is a three day mission with the safe return of the female robot – VYOMMITRA. It can perform a wide range of tasks such as alerting the system and life supporting tasks.

India will join the US, Russia, and China as the fourth country in the world with the potential to launch a human spaceflight mission if the manned mission is successful.

The mission was supposed to launch in 2022, however, it was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been given a timeline of 2024. It is called a half-humanoid  robot because it lacks legs but can bend forward and sideways. The robot can also recognize humans, answer questions, and conduct experiments.
