Kubernetes : New release & Dockershim removal [ Major changes ]
Kubernetes 1.24: Stargazer
Kubernetes team released its new version 1.24 , the first release of 2022 . Also the Release theme and logo ( Refer the pic above )
What do we have in this new release :
– 46 enhancements
– 14 enhancements graduated to Stable
– 15 enhancements moving to Beta
– 13 enhancements entering Alpha
– 2 features Deprecated
– 2 features Removed
Dockershim removed from Kubelet :
In our previous blogs we have referred to deprecation of Dockershim in K8S V1.20 and now it has been removed in v1.24 from kubelet .
From Kubernets 1.24 , use one of the other supported runtimes
Alternative : If you are using Docker engine as your container engine , use cri-dockerd
Beta APIs are off by default :
New beta APIs will not be enabled in clusters by default. Existing beta APIs and new versions of existing beta APIs, will continue to be enabled by default.
