WHAT IS BIG DATA?

Big data refers to a very large amount of data which cannot be handled by traditional data processing softwares. The data in Petabytes is called big data.

  •     Unstructured Data – Example : Video
  •     Semi-Structured Data – Example: XML  files

CHARACTERISTICS OF BIG DATA

VELOCITY – It refers to the speed at which the data is being processed.

VARIETY – It refers to the different types of data.

VOLUME – It refers to the size of the data.

VERACITY – It refers to the correctness of the data.

VALUE – It refers to discovering the patterns from the data.
